Night It Up! has a new logo!

Check out our new, sleek and modern logo! Love the change? So do we!
Special thanks to Simen Leung, Jason Lee and Carmen Chan for their intensive work and dedication for making this happen. After five months of brainstorming and countless hours of creative work, they’ve put together a new logo, and it looks absolutely fabulous!
This year is our 10th anniversary, and we wanted to present a more contemporary image that signifies our growth throughout these years . This is just the beginning of many more exciting changes to come.

Paint-A-Thon is almost here!

A brand new project to be launched summer 2011, Paint-A-Thon is a youth organized event that encourages all members of the community to express themselves through the medium of art. Enjoy an afternoon with your friends, family or coworkers to paint for our selected beneficiary, Free The Children.
Join us on July 16th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Markham Civic Centre.

Who are we? We are PUYO!

Hi everyone, like the title says, we are PUYO (as you may have already known.). We recently decided to launch our very first external newsletter after the success of our internal one last year.
Primarily, we want to keep all our friends (that's you!) in check and involved in everything we do. So, be prepared for some updates!

OTHERHALF: 326 National Chinese Stem Cell Drive
|
There are currently 800+ people on the waiting list for a matching stem cell donor. Twenty-one of
these are of Chinese descent, but unfortunately, the number of registrants of Chinese descent in
the stem cell drive is small. These patients only have about 10% chance of finding a donor within
this drive, in comparison to the 80% chance Caucasian patients have. OtherHalf's goal is to
increase the amount of Chinese origin registrants worldwide.
On Saturday, March 26th, OtherHalf held a National Stem Cell Drive day in 5 cities across
Canada. Several Power Unit Youth Organization members came out that day and volunteered at
Agincourt Mall. Though some of us had to sacrifice our precious Saturday morning hours of sleep
for the event, it always feels good to volunteer for a great cause!
Alongside the event, due to the recent events that have occurred in Japan, the FUNraising
team of PUYO felt it was necessary to take the step in raising funds for Japan. Our booth was
named “Make a Wish For Japan”, where donors were asked to write a wish on origami paper and
were subsequently taught to fold the piece of paper into a crane. In Japanese culture, one who
folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish. Our FUNraising team raised a grand total
of $1,129.73 for Doctors Without Borders. Great job, guys!

Night It Up! can help!
We are looking for passionate volunteers to help out at Night It Up! 2011 held in mid-July. This is a great opportunity for you to have fun, meet new people, and experience a day full of memories. You could be directly involved in coordinating the event, selling our merchandise, or be a part of the stage crew.
Come to our volunteer orientation on May 22, 2011 at Markham Civic Center. We welcome volunteers of all ages and creed, but especially those passionate about helping the community.
